Hello. I am
doing my ISTE standard for educators. My name is Carissa Olveda and let's get
started. |

When I first
turned in my philosophy for this class, I did not add anything about
technology. After taking this class, I do believe it's important to add it in
there. I just want my students to be able to express themselves and just be
familiar with each other and stay focused on our goal or vision. I believe
that technology is everywhere and it's getting bigger every single day I
think that's a big thing to bring into the classroom and allow my students to
learn the correct way. I do believe
that having technology in the classroom is important. So that's why my
philosophy and how it’s changed from the beginning of this course to now. |

started on the standards. |

The first standard is Learner. From what I read is “just always open
to change”. Always being able to learn new things like setting goals for
myself as an educator. Being able to utilize technology in the classroom so
would look like just being active in blogs and being active within the
community and with different teachers throughout the school and just being
open to learning new things. The second standard is Leader, being an
educator, we must encourage our students to use technology and just use
towards their learning and just be there for support, being that person that
can help them, just advocate for their technology, and be able to explore and
be that safe place for them. |

The next one
would be Citizen. From my research, just being a good role model and having a
discussion with your students and being open and making everything a positive
interaction. Just having that conversation that words hurt and that what you
say online stays online and just to be safe and make sure that you're making
the right decisions and when you're online just making sure that you're being
a good model for yourself and just to protect yourself and don't put anything
like your personal data on the internet without a parent or adult
supervision. The next one is Collaborator.
For
collaborator. This is a good one just because for teachers we all should
encourage each other to help one another and I feel like being a collaborator
is dedicating your time to your coworkers and just being open, having that
conversation of sharing various lesson plans using technology with students
in the classroom and just expanding their experiences and I feel like having
meetings with different teachers and staff can help with one another and
being able to use different resources for the classroom. |

The next one is
the designer.
For a designer,
it’s about being aware and being able to adapt to different accommodations
and modifications when using technology in the classroom. Make sure that
we're meeting all of the different needs that are in the classroom and making
sure that our students are still able to have that authentic learning and be
able to access technology to the best of their abilities. So being able to
accommodate and modify and engage that aspect for your students in the
classroom.
The next one is
a facilitator.
Always being
aware of what students are doing and just keeping track of work progress and
making sure they're using technology for intended purposes. Just create
learning goals and outcomes for the students and just make sure that they're
being used appropriately in the classroom and giving them opportunities to
challenge themselves with critical thinking and being able to express their
ideas and just make those connections.
The last one is
analysis.
So, this one is
just applying data toward student goals. In my practicum and what I will be
using in the future is like I ready reading and I ready math, those sorts of
apps, keep track of students’ data so what they're good at and what they need
a little bit of help with being able to use their data and setting goals for
your students or working on them one on one. Group work helps with this and
being able to use this data to help students to reach their goals and just to
make sure that they are making progress and being able to communicate with
students and parents just about what we are working on in the classroom and
that is my ISTE standards and how I will be using them in the classroom.
